Supervised Visitation

Whether parents are living together or apart,
they have a shared responsibility for their children. Most often, children
benefit from regular contact with both parents, regardless of the parents'
relationship. Supervised Visits allow children to spend quality time with a
non-custodial parent in a safe environment. Court-ordered visitations are available on
weekdays, weekends, and on holidays.
Who is eligible for
this program?
This program is offered to everyone.
What is the cost of the
service?
The fee per hour is $30.00.
Payment is required at the time of service.
For certain low-income families services may be provided at no cost through the
Access to Visitation Grant Program.
How do I apply for
service?
Both parents must sign up for and attend an Orientation Session.
There is a $25 non-refundable fee for Orientation, and sessions are scheduled regularly;
please call Melanie Phillips at (559) 229-3561 extension 29 for details. A
visitation schedule will be arranged when both parents agree to all
agency rules and conditions related to the program.
What are the benefits for
my children?
Supervised visits allow the children
to maintain a relationship with both parents, even when one parent has no
custodial rights. It also allows children to anticipate visits without the
stress of wondering what is going to happen and to enjoy them in a safe,
comfortable environment.
What are the benefits
for the custodial parent?
As the custodial parent, you are freed from having to communicate
with or have contact with the other parent. Agency staff arrange the visits, and
pick-up and drop-off times are staggered so you won't have contact with
the other parent. You can also relax and feel comfortable about letting your
child have safe, monitored contact with the other parent.
What are the benefits for
the non-custodial parent?
This program allows parents without
custodial rights the opportunity to have regular, uninterrupted contact with
their children. If the visits are court-ordered, you can visit your children
without concern for future accusations or problems, because someone is always
present during your time with your children. Agency staff are neutral and
objective, and will document and report on only what actually occurs during your
visit.
