designed to promote responsible fatherhood, improving the relationships of fathers
with their children, and assisting fathers in overcoming barriers that may keep
them from being the most effective and nurturing parents. Services, which
are also available to moms, include supported and therapeutic supervised
visitation (for non-custodial dads and moms), fatherhood classes, case
management, and support groups. This program is funded through the U.S.
Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families.
Functional
Family Therapy (FFT): Functional Family Therapy is a highly
successful family intervention for at-risk juveniles and those involved with the
juvenile justice system. Services are provided to youth, ages 11 to 15

parents who want to improve their relationship with their children.
Public Education & Outreach:
The well-being of the children of Fresno County is our priority at Comprehensive

are made to numerous community groups, businesses, and schools each year.

Supervised
Exchanges: The supervised
exchange program offers a safe and neutral environment for children to be
exchanged between parents who do not reside together.
Supervised Visits:
This program provides a positive, safe and neutral environment for a child to
visit with his/her non-custodial parent or to safely be exchanged between
parents. The program's goal is to promote a healthy growing relationship between
the parent and child, help to reduce stress and conflict between parents,
prevent abuse and/or violence, and ensure regular visitation.
Therapeutic Supervised
Visitation:
This program targets at-risk children and youth who have been exposed to
child abuse, neglect, and/or domestic violence or who are at-risk for attachment
disorders. Therapeutic Supervised Visitation differs from traditional
supervised visitation by adding a structured mental health therapy component to
the visits under the guidance of a qualified counselor who works one-on-one with
the child and non-custodial parent. Through observation, instruction, modeling, counseling and analysis
by a qualified therapist, the child receives needed therapy and the parent and
child are assisted in repairing and strengthening their relationship.
Training of Mental Health Paraprofessionals: CYS
provides internships for postgraduate students pursuing their MSW or MFT
(Masters in Social Work or Marriage & Family Therapy). The agency is also
a licensed provider of Continued Educational Units (CEUs) and provides
issue-specific training to area mental health providers at various workshops
throughout the year.
